Associate professor in media studies Niels Brügger has been elected as new director of the Centre for Internet Research. He succeeds professor Niels Ole Finnemann who has been centre director since the establishing of the centre in 2000.
Niels Brügger's research is focused on the history of the internet and at the moment he is writing a book ('doktordisputats') about the first ten years of the Danish public service broadcaster DR's website dr.dk, from 1996 to 2006. He has published in Danish as well as international journals and books, and he has just edited the volume Web History (Peter Lang, New York, 2010).
The Centre for Internet Research unites scholars who work with internet-related research within the humanities and social sciences. At present 17 scholars are affiliated with the centre.
