CFI Lecture: If...Then': Algorithmic power and politics
On 8 May CFI is hosting a lecture by Taina Bucher, Associate Professor, Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, University of Copenhagen.
In this book talk, Bucher presents some of the main arguments of her recently published book 'If...Then': Algorithmic power and politics (Oxford University Press, 2018). The book provides an account of the algorithmic media landscape that pays attention to the multiple realities of algorithms, and how these relate and coexist. The argument is made that the power and politics of algorithms reside not so much in what algorithms do or what they are technically as in when they come to matter, what actors deploy them, and for what ends.
8 May 2019, 12:30-14:00, Helsingforsgade 14, Building 5335 (Nygaard), Room 016, Det Store Auditorium (PBA)
The lecture is open for everybody, and it is not necessary to sign up.
